Every prisoner serving a sentence must work.
In open institutions the prisoners earn more, they get paid for overtime up to 100% higher.
Piecework is better paid
Inmates can be exempted from work because of illness or studies.
Instead of working, inmates can also study either full-time or part-time, but the prisoner needs permission for that.
Vocational training is more valued than university studies inside prison.
In open sections inmates are allowed to watch TV as long as there are programs.
There are no restrictions in sending and receiving mail, but to avoid misuse of it, the letters are inspected.
The visits are supervised and goods brought by visitors are inspected
The allowance paid to inmates who are not working is very low.
