Poverty and uneven income distribution
One of the most severe issue in modern economies concern poverty or uneven income distribution in general. This problem arises because there is no mechanism in the market economy that would deal with this issue. Market mechanism is mainly considered as a good system on the ground of achieving economic efficiency. It fails to achieve equitable or fair use of scarce resources.
This is the third rational justification to accept government intervention into the economy.
